Defeating the MyMote timer

Asked by Joe Wasson

I am using MyMote on an iPad bolted to the wall to scroll thru and select short HD videos of interviews with local WWII veterans in a small theater in our local Museum. It works great with simple left and right arrows surrounding a Select button. But MyMote has an internal timer that shuts it down around the 10 minute mark returning the iPad to its desktop. This then allows museum goers to play with the desk top and goof everything up.

After much studying I read where I could stop this timer by turning on the iPad's Airplane Mode. This worked until a breaker flipped and my room at the museum was without power for 2 days. When I turned everything back on everything worked, but I could never defeat the MyMote timer again. Anyone know a way to permanently disable the MyMote 10 minutes timer? I am sooo close to perfecting a miracle here! Thanks in advance, Joe

Hi Joe,

I love hearing how you're using MyMote!

I am surprised you are hitting some timer that is dumping you back to the home screen. It's likely not a timer but a crash instead, because there isn't any way for an app to close itself in iOS. I'm going to open a bug report for this issue so we can track it. I'll make further comments there.

Thanks!

It's a holiday and too hot in Arkansas to do much work today. I will fill out the bug report and include some logs that I believe points out my problem. But for now, here is the museum iPad selector at work! Happy 4th of July! Joe
