Compress option gzip --rsyncable

Asked by chris

Hi,

Would it be possible to be able to configure the compress option, such that it would use gzip ---rsyncable?
I'm RSYNCing the output of mydumper to remote sites, and using gzip --rsyncable would be great. Actually, I'm going to be using mydumper at 200+ sites instead of mysqldump.

It's a fantastic bit of coding - nice work guys !

Regards, Chris.

Hi Chris, mydumper uses zlib for compression and AFAIK its doesnt have that feature.

FWIW, it appears from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465243 that if you compile it on Fedora, you could somehow activate their local --rsyncable patches to zlib. That might not help you at all, but it's an option. Upstream (zlib) appears, um, stagnant, particularly on this particular feature.

Can you help with this problem?
