Overlay turns pink when added to Forecast Map

Asked by Patrick Dickey

I opened up the forecast map for my area, and added the Rain overlay, Air Temperature overly, Pressure overlay, and Radar overlay (not at the same time) to the map. Instead of showing me the overlay, the entire window turns pink.

I'm running this on Lubuntu 13.04 amd64 Linux <computername> 3.8.0-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 14 22:16:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, and the package name/version that I have installed is

ii my-weather-indicator 0.6.3-0extras12.10.3 all Get weather information for your town with My-Weather-Indicator

How do I get the map to show the actual weather conditions? This happens regardless of whether I select the Open Weather Map or WeatherUnderground services.

Have a great day.:)
Patrick.

I have the exact same problem in 12.04, with Virum (Denmark) as location. Starting the appl from command line doesn't reveal any error messages when opening the forecast window; neither wehen engaging any of the nonfunctional overlays.

strace yields a mountain of info and I didn't spot a hint.

deleting the .conf file in ~/.config and a restart didn't help.

This behavior persists for both openweathermap and yahoo as service providers.

--> However, what works for both: precipitation and cloud forecasts. Perhaps the other services are just not available from these providers. Some type of error messages could be helpful in that case ...

In fact, visiting openweathermap.org reveals that we can only obtain cloud forecast, prec. forecast, current weather and stations; a new overlay map provides pressure which seems not yet to have been implemented in my-weather-ind

When I view the forcast,it looks simply like a map of my area, there is no radar on the screen, selecting the overlays brings up the gauges, but does not change the actual map.
Hitting refresh actually seems to break it,because the map itself disappears and theres some sort of very small distorted graphic, this follows if I close and reopen the forecast,it remains broken until restart.

Can you help with this problem?
