No puedes instalar Microsoft Windows Media Player en Ubuntu, o no de forma nativa, y menos a través de firefox al uso.
¿No te vale con usar algunas de las alternativas disponibles Amarok , Rythmbox, Quod-Libet, Listen, BMP, XMMS, Mplayer ...?

Hola:

Podrias instalar el windows media player con wine (pero seria una version antigua) o con VMWare (pero tendrias que instalar una maquina virtual con un windows).
Mi recomendacion, como te ha dicho Antonio es usar algun programa nativo. Hay muchos y muy buenos.
