Please give us more information about what error message you are getting and what are you trying to play....

i have been tried to play musik on internet which requsted the real player to download and i ded it i nstalled the relplayer 10 gold.bin and helixplayer as well.both of them shows on the desktop.and when i trid to play the same musik i just get a error message :Could not find an appropriate h play or realplay in the system path to use as an embedded player. and second error is:The player does not have capabilities to play back this content this is supported by realplayer.the following component are required audio/x-pn-realaudio.

the exactly software i have installed in my system are:Realplay-10.9.809linux-2.2-libc6-gcc32-i586.bin and Hxplay-1.0.8.806-linux2.2-libc6-gcc32-i586-bin.

Ok for that you need mplayer plugin for firefox to play real audio on the internet..

you need to have extra repositories enabled..
To enable all the software repositories do ref this link..

after getting all the required repositories enabled

Type the following command in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)

sudo aptitude install mplayer

(to install mplayer and mplayer plugin)

Or if you are on kubuntu

To enable universe software repositories do..

Start Adept by choosing K Menu->System->Adept (Package Manager) from the Desktop menu system.

Select View->Manage Repositories in the Adept package manager window.

To enable the Universe repository, find the repository line with the Universe Component, and right click the line and select Enable.

after getting all the required repositories enabled

Type the following command in a Konsole (KMenu -> System -> Konsole)

sudo apt-get update

Then type,

sudo apt-get install mplayer

i did not removed the previous installation of Realplay-10.9.809linux-2.2-libc6-gcc32-i586.bin and Hxplay-1.0.8.806-linux2.2-libc6-gcc32-i586-bin.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package realplayer has no installation candidate
i dont know what to do can anybody help me please?

try this command in a terminal (If you did not remove your previous installation)

sudo apt-get remove realplayer

and to install real player in ubuntu there are different methods:

i think it impossible to install realplayer in my system ihave tried to remove the previos realplayer but i got a mesagge like this the application its not installed.i have also trid to verify the installation om firefox and i found out that everything was ok.i have also tried to edd extra repositories but i just receive error message like:w:gpg error:http.debian.org etch release:the following signatures could'nt be verified because the public key is not available....... when i tried to download and install repositories.i won to get a simple explenation about it if possibble because i'm new in ubuntu. when i try apt-get install realplayer i got this message:package relplayer is not available,but is refered to by another package.This may mean that the package is missing,has been obsoleted.or is only available from another source.Package realplayer has no installation candidate.

Ok Mplayer is known to cause konqueror crash in kubuntu..

Possible fix is:

Install firefox and then install mplayer plugin for firefox

sudo apt-get install firefox

and then

sudo apt-get install mplayer.
