mnemosyne will not load database - shut down improperly

I get message: "Either mnemosyne did not shut down properly or another copy of mnemosyne is running.
Continuing in the latter case could lead to data loss.

Thanks for the suggestion. I hit okay and it says "creating tmp file" but nothing happens after
that and I still cannot open the program. I REALLY appreciate your help as I do not want to
lose about five hours of imputing information into the program.

After it says 'creating tmp file', can you try using the menu to open the file 'default.mem'? Your data should be there.

If that doesn't work, go into the directory C:\Documents and setting\teitzelk\.mnemosyne\ and delete the file named 'config'

Also make sure you are running the latest version. (1.2)

What happened before you got this message? A power failure?

Thanks I have my information back!!!!!!

Yes, our electricity went out and even with a surge protector it
messed up the program.

I am grateful for your help!
