mnemosyne Freezes in XP after ~ reviewing cards

Asked by NetMechDB

Hello- I am running, or trying to run the latest mnemosyne build on WinXP Pro(SP2).

I put about 50 questions in, and then during review noticed the application would just freeze, shortly after I entered a rating...

I also made a second set, new db, with a few images in the questions...same results, freezing during review.

I had a 0k error log (probably because the app terminated..)

I have uninstalled/reinstalled/new data, etc...

Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated..

thank you in advance,

Don (NetMechDB)

Is this reproducible, i.e. does it always happen at the same moment?
Does your computer otherwise act strange?
Also feel free to mail me your deck

What exactly is the "deck"? and where should I send it ?

BTW- I really like this product, I'm hoping I can get past this...

By 'deck' I mean the 'default.mem' file in C:\Documents and
settings\Don\.mnemosyne

Do you run out of memory, i.e. do you notice a lot of disk activity because
your computer starts swapping?

Have you always had this problem with Mnemosyne, or did it work in the past?

The CPU spikes up to 51%...and stays above that level..
the PF usage is 648 MB out of 2 Gig..
.
Avail mem is about 1.2 g...

When I forcibly shut down (Via Windows Task Mgr) the CPU usage goes back down below 10....

Where would you like me to send the deck to ?

Regards,

Don

Pasting from private conversation, for reference:

My guess is that Qt3 somehow wasn't able to deal with these bmp files correctly. There is not a lot I can do about this, apart from hoping that the issue will be solved with the move to Qt4 for Mnemosyne 2.0.
