categories/entries dissapearing after import. Imported data disappearing afterwards..

yesterday after import of tab separated file as a new category, I "lost" a number of existing entries. The new ones were there. In fact I even went through some of them "remembering".. as the old ones were available in auto backup i did not worry and thought I'll import them back today.

Today, however, the yesterday's import has dissapeared, but the old entries again are there... anything to take care of, so this does not happen?

Looking in the log of yesterdays events i do not see the "import item", but I see other items such as the track of manually added items right before import; I'm running the app from a USB stick - so today I'm view it on another pc, but how this could matter(?)

One category that had disappeared was not active at the moment of import, 2 others were "learned", i.e. did not show up in the learning queue (one of them were fully created before import). Could any of this be linked?

I suspect I should have qualified this as a bug, just I'm not sure I can reproduce it. Just disabling some categories and importing data does not seem to screw it up.

I think what happens here is that you have two separate copies of your data, which are not synchronised. If you have the application installed both on a USB key and on a PC, you need to start the executable from the USB key to make sure the data is saved to your key. If you start it from the PC, it will save its data on the local drive.

agree. That's what understood after I posted - when going over what I did yesterday, I understood that at the point i did the import I had opened mnemosyne link to the installation on PC (should remove local installs asap ;-). And that install/database of course did not contain all entries as was not lately used...
