Mnemosyne hangs on after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10

Asked by Gimelit

I I am using Mnemosyne on a Ubuntu 64-bit system and am experiencing problem with it after upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10.

The program repeatedly hangs on. While before the upgrade its time response after pushing the button "Show answer" or "Grade the answer" was immediate, now it hangs on for a while (I reckon a second or thereabouts).

If you need any further information, I will be pleased to answer.

Thank you,

Giovanni Guida.

Start 'qtconfig' and make sure the desktop style is not GTK+.

If that does not help, try starting mnemosyne from the command prompt and see if any error messages are printed.

(BTW, I run mnemosyne without problems on KUbuntu 10.11, but I use the beta from 2.0)

Hallo Mr. Bienstman,

I tried your tip, but I didn't get any result. Besides, I tried launching Mnemosyne running a command, but I got no error line.
I confess being puzzled, because up to now your applications has always worked fine. I even hold on replying, trying to tinker with applications for changing themes, but I didn't get any improvement.

Have you any further advice?

Thank you,

Giovanni Guida.

Do you use the mnemosyne version from Ubuntu itself or the one you install from source? You can try switching to the other one.

You could also check out the 2.0 beta and see if you already want to upgrade now.

Dear Mr. Bienstman,

my Mnemosyne version (1.2.2), as well as all the other programs I used, was installed before the Ubuntu version update. It was installed by means of the Ubuntu Software Center.

I confess to being curious to have a try at the 2.0 beta version, but I can't find the software both in launchpad.net and mnemosyne-proj.org. Would you be so kind to send me the link? (Also some tips about installation would be useful, because I haven't been installing software on my own for ages).

Thank you,

Giovanni Guida.

Dear Mr. Bienstman,

it seems a bit daunting indeed...However do I need a SSH key (I suppose a key as developer) also for installing and using the software?

Thank you,

Giovanni Guida.

No, you can skip the SSH part if you just want read-only access to the
repository. The SSH part is only if you want to develop code yourself and
create a Launchpad repository on it.
