Japanese: Hiragana and Katakana invisible, Kanji visible

Asked by Carl L

Hello:

I just downloaded Mnemosyne for Windows, and I am eager to give it a shot; however, text in the form of hiragana (ひらがな) and katakana (カタカナ) when I try to type in Japanese are invisible. This occurs whether I have imported a card, or if I try to directly input a card. There is recognition that something has been typed because I can highlight where the text should be, or I can change it into kanji (漢字) which is visible. The problem remains after the card has been made so that in use only kanji or the latin alphabet is visible. Going to settings and changing the Q/A or list fonts did nothing (i tried changing the script from Latin to Unicode and Hiragana).

Thank you for your time.

I would try again with some other fonts, as people have been using Mnemosyne successfully for Japanese. Perhaps you could also ask on the mailing list for font suggestions.

You also try the latest beta of 2.0

Can you help with this problem?
