The MLHIM project goal is to attain a level of technical releavance that matches the Albert Einstein statement: Make everything as simple as possible; but no simpler.

We have some basic guiding principles:

To provide a framework that allows for creating concept models that are application, programming language and platform neutral; from an implementation perspective.

To provide a framework that allows for a mulitplicity of perspectives on a given concept. Avoiding the requirement for global concensus for a maximal data model. Which experience shows is an impossible goal anyway.

To provide a framework that focuses on the semantics of the data without imposing on the functionality of amy one type of healthcare application. So that MLHIM is appropriate for the design and implementation of the information output from a home blood pressure monitor; scaling all the way up to national health record architectures.

As you can see we do not compete with existing healthcare specifications. We provide an industry wide, implementable standard.

We welcome feedback and participation from any interested party.
