I have a 40,000+ file database...are there ways to make it easier to sort?

Asked by daveloch

I would like to know if there are preferences that can be changed to allow Mixxx's Library to behave a little more like other media players. A few things I'd like to do are: add/remove columns based on ID3 tags, move columns left or right and jump to files by typing the first few characters.

Actually, jumping to files is something that I use all the time with MediaMonkey. To clarify, what I do is choose which column I want to sort by, then type the first few characters corresponding to what I'm looking for in that particular column. For example, if I'm looking for all the Lady Gaga songs I have, I'll sort by the "Artist" column, then type in "lady" which jumps me to the first entry for "Lady...." in the Artist column. I can do this for whichever column is chosen as the "sort" column.

Mixxx is actually fantastic!! Exactly what I've been looking for with the exception of a few little things. I'm running it on a Win7 Acer Aspire One accessing a 1TB ext. USB drive. I'm also using it with both the internal and an external USB audio interface. So far, so good. Tomorrow will be my first gig with it so we'll see how it goes.

Mixxx 1.8 will have an all-new library. Look for a beta in the next month.
