Using prospective "Multimedia Services" in QT 4.6 instead of portaudio

Asked by RAFFI TEA

Dear developers,

I have just looked at the prospective features of QT 4.6 (http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.6-snapshot/qt4-6-intro.html). Sounds very promising. The so-called "Multimedia Services" provide low-level access to audio devices and files. It might be a plausible alternative with regard to libportaudio. Unfortunately, it is not clear which audio backends are supported out of the box, e.g., Jack, ASIO, ALSA,...

In general, however, it seems a promising API to me. It might help Mixxx to reduce code complexity and thus improve stability.

What do you think?

Hi Tobias, thanks for pointing us to this. I wasn't aware that the low
level Qt audio API had developed so quickly! We will definitely look
into using this in the future. Thanks again!
