I try to Start Mixxx on my Mac (leopard) and it keeps crashing. . .it worked once, and then after that it can't open anymore. Can anyone help?

Asked by rogebone

When I first opened the program Mixxx version 1.6 on my mac, it worked like a dream loaded my music library and everything was fine. Then I copied the program (Mixx) to my hard drive because it was running out of a virtual drive the first time, and then shut the program that was running through the virtual drive down and then now it won't start up anymore. I've re-installed the program trying both the tiger and the linux versions and neither works. It keeps giving me the error that the program shut down unexpectedly. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong with it. I've started it up from both the virtual drive, and after installing it on the computer (copying it to my applications folder) and neither works it just keeps crashing before start-up. Does anyone know what the problem is? and if you do I'd appreciate your help. Thank you.

You most likely have a bad configuration file. Try deleting all files beginning with .mixxx in your home directory and start the program again. Good luck :)

where do I find those? and when I go to spotlight it tells me that nothing with mixxx exists, do they go under a different name?

To remove your configuration files, open up the Terminal application on OS X. After that, type the following into it:

rm .mixxxtrack.xml
rm .mixxx.cfg

Let us know if this fixes it, thanks.
