Midi Mapping for DDJ T1 on Mac

Asked by Ashley Cadwallader

Hello there,

I have recently purchased a Mac Book Pro and I have downloaded a copy of MIxxx 1.9.1 which I would like to spend some time on learning the ropes.

I have been using a Pioneer DDJ-T1 and Traktor 2 Pro on Windows up until recently and would like to look at Midi Mapping the DDJ-T1 so that it works with MIxxx.

Here comes the problem, I seem to be unable to locate the controller through Mixxx. Every time I go to preferences and check it says that there is no Midi devices available under the Midi Controllers header. This means I am unable to use the wizard.

I have checked on the Pioneer support website to see if I needed to download a driver file but they state that the MAC should pick up the controller automatically.

I am relatively new to this and have spent the best part of 10 hours in the last couple of days trying to sort this. I think I need soem help. Haha

Does anybody have any help or advice that they could offer me?

Thank you for your time

Kind Regards

Ashley

Welcome to Mixxx,
and congrats to the purchase of some marvelous gear.

First, uninstall Mixxx 1.9.1, the version you had probably installed from the Mac App Store. This version is outdated - the latest stable version is Mixxx 1.10.1, which is available at http://mixxx.org/download/

If your device is still not recognized by Mixxx 1.10.1, then follow the troubleshooting section @ Pioneer (especially the "Connections" section) http://pioneerdj.com/support/product.php?c=104&lang=en&p=DDJ-T1&t=faq

Also check if the DDJ-T1 is visible in the MIDI window of the "Audio MIDI setup.app" , build into Mac OSX.

Hope this helps

Hi Jus,

Thank you for the timely response.

I have downloaded version 1.10.1 and it has recognised the controller.

Now I can get to work.

Thanks again for your time
