How to vary free parameters from a BSM model using a script file?

Asked by Ankur Panchal

I want to create plots of cross sections vs energy and cross sections vs masses of certain MSSM particles. I could incorporate varying energies by writing a .txt script file and execute through terminal. But I am not sure of the latter task. I searched for the parameter name I want to change in Param Card file, but couldn't pinpoint it in that. Any help with this? You may take an example, say mu+ mu- > w+ w-, with varying higgsino mass (h~).

For which entry in the param_card correspond which parameter of the model, this is something that depends of the model.
Given your name of parameter, you might have a model that follow the susy les houches accord version 1 or 2, please check which one and then read the associated paper to know the convention. Sorry I do not know such convention.

For the rest, you can do the same as for the energy, or use the "scan:[100,200,300]" feature to simplify the syntax.
Remember that when scanning over a mass you need to update the width at the same time to have physical cross-section (my advise is to use "set width XXXX auto")

Cheers,

Olivier
