One process missing when doing reweight?

Asked by Meng Lu

Dear MG experts,

When trying to produce following process (using MG265):

```
import model EWdim6NLO-no_cmass_cwwwcbcw
generate p p > ell+ vl w- $$ t t~ H QED=3 [QCD] @0
add process p p > ell+ vl w- j $$ t t~ H QED=3 [QCD] @1
add process p p > ell- vl~ w+ $$ t t~ H QED=3 [QCD] @2
add process p p > ell- vl~ w+ j $$ t t~ H QED=3 [QCD] @3
```

we use madspin for the W boson decay, everything runs fine except coming to the reweighting step, in the log file we see:

```
since the main process in MG and madspin runs fine, i'm wondering why there is such error. While checking the log, it seems that process "generate p p > ell- vl~ w+" is not there. do i understand the error correctly, and if yes, why this error happens.
All the cards can be found here https://melu.web.cern.ch/melu/WWToLNujj_01j_aTGC/
Hi,
2.6.5 is not supported anymore (and does not compile anymore on my machine)
> While checking the log, it seems that process "generate p p > ell- vl~ w+" is not there. do i understand the error correctly, and if yes, why this error happens.
Yes this is the issue. This is clearly a bug of that version of MG5aMC
I have tested within our Long Term Stable version the following code
generate p p > w+ [QCD]
add process p p > w- [QCD]
output
launch
madspin=ON
and the equivalent line was:
INFO: generate p p > w+ --no_warning=duplicate;define pert_QCD = -4 -3 -2 -1 1 2 3 4 21;add process p p > w+ pert_QCD --no_warning=duplicate;add process p p > w- --no_warning=duplicate;define pert_QCD = -4 -3 -2 -1 1 2 3 4 21;add process p p > w- pert_QCD --no_warning=duplicate;
So I would bet that your issue should be solved if you update your version of MG5aMC to 2.9.12 (our last bug fix for the LTS version)
Cheers,
Olivier
