UNLOPS settings: ickkw = 4 vs ickkw = 5

Asked by Soumyadip Barman

Hi,

I am working on UNLOPS for some time now. The motive is to integrate UNLOPS in CMS.
Already there is a thread regarding this [1].
I have again opened up that thread about one query.
I am opening a new thread as perhaps the question is missed somehow.

For UNLOPS we are using ickkw = 4 in the run card to set the nLO and npNLO attributes.

Recently, I came to know about this development branch which uses ickkw = 5 for UNLOPS [2].
Could you please let me know what is the primary difference between using ickkw =4 vs ickkw =5?

Thanks & Regards,
Soumyadip

Dear Soumyadip,

[2] is a development branch that should not be used. It's been just for testing a few things.

best,
Rikkert

Dear Rikkert,

We are not using that branch currently.
But, we are curious to know what is the basic difference between them.

We are closely working with UNLOPS authors to implement UNLOPS in CMS. We have already done some validation with ickkw =0 and ickkw =4. Although ickkw =0 doesn't have the functionality to add nLO and npNLO attributes automatically which is required for UNLOPS. So, we are curious what changes we may expect if we use ickkw = 5 instead of ickkw =4.

Thanks,
Soumyadip

Dear Soumyadip,

There is nothing to expect for ickkw=5. This branch has just been there to play around a bit. At this stage, there is no reason to expect that this would be correct in any way; let alone this to become part of the main code.

Best,
Rikkert
