Events produced during the integration at FO

Asked by Claudio Severi

Hello everyone,

when running Madgraph at fixed order with analysis format 'LHE', each integration stage produces a .lhe file containing the phase space points that were probed at that stage.

These temporary files are:
   SubProcesses/Pxxx/all_Gxxx/events.lhe
if the job was not split, and:
   SubProcesses/Pxxx/all_Gxxx_n/events.lhe
where n = 1,2,..., if the job was split.

At the end, the lhe files in SubProcesses/ are combined into one, moved to Events/, and the original files are deleted.

Sometimes, not all the lhe files in SubProcesses/ are combined (and deleted).

This happens when a subprocess is split *during the integration*, so the folders "all_Gxxx" (before the split) and "all_Gxxx_n" (after the split) end up existing simultaneously. Only the folders produced at the last integration stage are kept track of by madgraph, so those produced before the split are left behind.

My question:

Should I care about these leftover lhe files? Are they a relic or do they contain information that should enter the final file?

Thanks a lot,
Claudio
