pythia6 not running on cluster mode

Asked by celik

Hi,

I know pythia6 is not maintained anymore, but I wanted to give a try already installed one back in a few years ago. I am trying to generate multi-run events with madevent and push through pythia in cluster mode. I check and can see that, in the event generation process, cluster nodes are running jobs, however when it comes to Pythia step, only one node which jobs submitted to cluster runs.

I also checked with gridpack option as well. Generated gridpack, then run pythia6 standalone in cluster mode set to "1" in input/mg5_configuration.txt file.

I am wondering if pythia6 does not support cluster mode and splits the jobs to other available nodes? Or am I missing a point in the steps?

Thanks

pythia is not natively support running on multithread(or multi-process).
We did implement a workaround for pythia8 (by splitting the input file)
but this was not done for pythia6.

Cheers,

Olivier
