Generate pp>z>mu+ mu- events by Delphes

Asked by Nayara Amaral de Souza

I hope everyone is well and healthy. I'm trying to generate a pp>Z>mu+ mu- event to plot the Z invariant mass distribution, for that, plan A would be to look for Pythia's output, however, when running Pythia I only found one .hepmc output, but this one file is a bit heavy, and I haven't found how to contain it for .root. Then, I followed a plan B, run the Delphes output from the particle branch, but when running the code I found null values for px, in addition the other components of the transverse moment have a very low value. Can anyone explain why? Is it common for the latest version of Madgraph?
Thanks

Hi,

If you are plotting information before parton shower then the Z has 0 pt.
I do not know Delphes and therefore does not know what "particle branch" does contains.
I guess that you can check the Delphes manual and/or contact Delphes author.

Cheers,

Olivier
