Slow generation rate of the process p p > b b~ a a j j

Asked by Harshal Kulkarni

Hi,
I am interested in generating 100000 events for the process pp>bb~aajj as a background for the pp>hhjj>bb~aajj process that I am interested in. However, even if I want to generate 10000 events, MG takes around a day or so to do this task and to generate 100000 events, it takes even more time (several days). I would like to understand why this is happening and how I can solve this, as I cannot keep my local device switched on for several days to complete the generation.

Thanks,
Harshal

A good paper to read is likely this one:
Speeding up MadGraph5_aMC@NLO <https://inspirehep.net/literature/1844259>: 2102.00773 <https://arxiv.org/abs/2102.00773>
It will cover the place where the computation is done:
( the matrix-element ) and why we need so much evaluation of such matrix-element (the efficiency of the phase-space integration).

Cheers,

Olivier
