Event generation fails (boost-1_62: binary operator expected)

Asked by Neofytos

Dear experts,
I have been successfully generating events for the Keung Senjanovic process, using the lrsm_1_3_2_UFO model, for a while now.

In the last few days, though, and using the exact same configuration, the generation fails and I am getting an error that I haven't managed to solve.
Boost/1.62.0-c1b05/x86_64-centos7-gcc62-opt/include/boost-1_62: binary operator expected

Any help would be much appreciated.

The full log file and relevant files to reproduce the issue can be found in:
https://cernbox.cern.ch/index.php/s/00aZOwoc5zGyDTn

The steps I am following:

setupATLAS
asetup 21.6.23,AthGeneration
Gen_tf.py --ecmEnergy=13000. --maxEvents=-1 --firstEvent=1 --randomSeed=123456 --outputEVNTFile="EVNT.root" --jobConfig="JO/"

The error (only relevant lines):

Hi,

Could you run this outside of Athena?
or at least join the madgraph debug file?
I found athena type of output very confusing.

Maybe the issue is with lhapdf but I have the feeling that multiple stream are writting in your log and this complexify any diagnostic.
In any case this seems to be an installation issue (likely of lhapdf) so maybe the solution is to re-install lhapdf.
(I guess that you can not do that yourself and will need to contact someone from Athena support for that)

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Oliver,

thank you for the reply.

I'm closing this since it appears to be an ATLAS issue and not an MG one.

Hi Neofytos,

Can you please explain how did you solve this issue?
I am having the same problem and I am also running on the ATLAS environment.

Best regards,
Robert

Hi Robert,

Hopefully, I'm able to help. In my case, the Athena release I was using became obsolete due to the migration to CentOS 7. Switching to a newer release (>21.6.51) fixed the issue.

One more thing is that the release I was using appeared to be valid in the ATLAS MG twiki[1] but it is shown as forbidden in the PMG recommendation twiki[2].
