How madgraph deal with Higgs decay?

Asked by Winston

Hi experts,
I simulated a process with Higgs boson in final state , and the decay mode of Higgs boson is not assigned. After pythia8 and Delphes simulation, I obtained a root file with leptons, jets, and photons. How madgraph deal with Higgs boson decay? Does it assume an inclusive decay modes? What's more, If I don't assign the decay modes of top quark, does it include all it's decay modes?

Hi,

Such decay are done by Pythia8 by default and indeed the default mode is to follow the branching ration.
Obviously such decay in Pythia8 do not have spin-correlation (like you would from MG5aMC or MadSpin).

If you want to restrict the decay mode and/or forbif Pythia8 to decay such particle, I would invite you to read the pythia8 manual.

Cheers,

Olivier
