Reference frame for polarised templates in diboson production inclusive in the number of jets

Asked by lucia di ciaccio

Dear Madgraph Authors,

we (ATLAS WZ team) are in the process of using Madgraph to generate samples of pp->WLZL, WTZL, WLZT, WTZT inclusive in the number of jets in order to get polarisation templates. The aim is to measure the cross section separately for the different polarisation states.

We are aware that for pp->jjWW it is possible to perform the (LO) simulation of the process involving external states in fixed helicity eigenstates, using an arbitrary reference frame.

We are interested in the reference frame in which the WZ pair is at rest and would like to know if this feature (choice of the reference frame to compute the final state polarisation templates) is available also for the pp->WZ production inclusive in the number of jets, and if not, if this is something that could be quickly available.

Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Best Regards

Lucia on behalf of the WZ ATLAS team

Hi,

Yes this feature is not specific to any process.
You will find details here: arXiv:1912.01725 <http://arxiv.org/abs/arXiv:1912.01725>
Such feature are officially supported in 2.7.0 (not yet released).
But you can get the beta version here:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~maddevelopers/mg5amcnlo/2.6.5_polarization/tarball/341

Please note that such above version is not suitable for NLO computation (even without polarization).

Cheers,

Olivier
