9. plot_card.dat not showing

Asked by User New on 2019-10-12

I have madgraph v.2.6.6. I then installed Pythia 8, MadAnalysis5, and ExRootAnalysis in the madgraph terminal. I can generate events and launch. However, when it comes to editing the cards, I never have the 9. plot_card.dat available to edit in madgraph. I can only get Madgraph to show me this:

Do you want to edit a card (press enter to bypass editing)?
/------------------------------------------------------------\
| 1. param : param_card.dat |
| 2. run : run_card.dat |
| 3. pythia8 : pythia8_card.dat |
| 4. delphes : delphes_card.dat |
| 5. madspin : madspin_card.dat |
| 6. madanalysis5_parton : madanalysis5_parton_card.dat |
| 7. madanalysis5_hadron : madanalysis5_hadron_card.dat

But, where is 9. plot_card.dat? How can I get it out.

If I look inside the Card directory in my computer I see that there is a plot_card.dat. But how can I get Madgraph to generate a histogram directly through plot_card.dat

Thank you!

The plot_card was a file used for MadAnalysis4 (and not 5 as you have installed)

For madanalysis 5 you have to file:
| 6. madanalysis5_parton : madanalysis5_parton_card.dat |
| 7. madanalysis5_hadron : madanalysis5_hadron_card.dat
One for doing the plots at parton level and the second at hadron level

Cheers,

Olivier

Ok, thank you! That makes sense

Do you know how I can edit the madanalysis5 card to plot the invariant mass?

Those plot are present by default.
But if you need you can type "6" or "7" and edit the file according to the MA5 manual.
(this said for simple change (range/...) you do not need to read the manual.

Cheers,

Olivier
