problem in loading reweight module

Asked by Aya Ismail Hosny Beshr on 2019-10-09

Dear MadGraph team,

I have an issue that I want to ask you kindly about. I am trying to generate some background channels using sm-full model. For every different channel I generate the following error appears:

File "/home/aya/MADGRAPH/MG5_aMC_v2_6_6/madgraph/interface/common_run_interface.py", line 1962, in do_reweight
    The variable 'mg5_path' might not be correctly configured.'''
MadGraph5Error: Can't load Reweight module.
            The variable 'mg5_path' might not be correctly configured.

I checked the whole files related to this issue as /bin/internal/common_run interface.py, me5_configuration.txt and many others. The madgraph5 path is defined correctly and present in all of them, I don't know what is the problem? I also tried to change a bit in the code, but this is not working too. I am afraid that this is going to make a problem for the pythia running. Could you kindly please help me with this issue.

Thank you in advance!

Best,
Aya

Hi,

Indeed I do not think that your issue is with the mg5_path.
From what I see you are running from ./bin/mg5 or ./bin/mg5_aMC executable which therefore avoid the need to have to specify that path.

This seems to indicate that the file madgraph.interface.reweight_interface
is corrupted.

you can change this lined
        try:
            import madgraph.interface.reweight_interface as reweight_interface
        except ImportError:
            raise self.ConfigurationError('''Can\'t load Reweight module.
            The variable mg5_path might not be correctly configured.''')

to
        try:
            import madgraph.interface.reweight_interface as reweight_interface
        except ImportError:
            raise

in order to have more details on the issue with the file.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.!

I went to the file /MG5_aMC_V2_6_6/madgraph/interface/reweight_interface.py and I did not find those lines in the code.

Best,
Aya

Those lines are in
/home/aya/MADGRAPH/MG5_aMC_v2_6_6/madgraph/interface/common_run_interface.py

Cheers,

Olivier
