fail to install pythia-pgs in MG5_aMC_v2_6_5

Asked by HJCheng

Hi,
I'm trying to install pythia-pgs in MG5_aMC_v2_6_5, but the compilation failed with thousands of "undefined reference" in functions in ../libraries/lhapdf/lib/libLHAPDFlocal.a, e.g.:

    ../libraries/lhapdf/lib/libLHAPDFlocal.a(Sqcdnum.o): In function `abend_':
    Sqcdnum.f:(.text+0xe78): undefined reference to `s_stop'
    ../libraries/lhapdf/lib/libLHAPDFlocal.a(wrapEVLCTEQ.o): In function `__g77_masterfun_evlcteqevolve':
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x2b8): undefined reference to `s_rsle'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x2d6): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x2f4): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x315): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x336): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x340): undefined reference to `e_rsle'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x6d6): undefined reference to `s_wsle'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x6f4): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x712): undefined reference to `do_lio'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x71c): undefined reference to `e_wsle'
    wrapEVLCTEQ.f:(.text+0x730): undefined reference to `s_stop'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
    make[1]: *** [pythia] Error 1

How can I fix this issue? Thanks in advance!

Best,
Huajie

pythia-pgs is not supported anymore. Those packages are fully out-dated and not supported at all (both in term of physics support and in term of hardware support).

If you want to use it, you NEED to have old version of the compiler since it will not compile on the latest version.
Your particular error seems to be a mismatch of compiler but I will not investigate it.

Please use Pythia8 and/or Delphes for that,

Cheers,

Olivier
