Generation of polarized particles

Asked by Aashaq Shah

Hi Olivier,

While I am trying to generate a VBS process [1] with polarized W's, similar to the one you have pointed out in thread [2] but I didn't succeed with your prescription. I am trying to set up the process cards, then move towards grid pack generation and finally event production ( I have set up for later steps).

I tried essentially simplest thing "generate p p > w+{L} w-{T}" interactively in Madgraph_301, and received the following message:
===============
MG5_aMC>generate p p > w+{L} w-{T}
Command "generate p p > w+{L} w-{T}" interrupted with error:
InvalidCmd : No particle w+{l} in model
MG5_aMC>
===============
Am I missing something?

Would appreciate any sort of your help.
Thank you.

Hi,

I guess that you miss the first line of the thread "Starting in MG5aMC 2.7.0 (to be confirmed)."
2.7.0 is not yet released and this syntax is not yet validated/release.
This thread is a sneak peak of 2.7.0

The status of this development is that the code is fully validated when you do not decay the W.
The validation is on progress for decaying the W. (If this does not work, we might not even release this development at all)

Note that if you do not care about decay, you can use the previous (by hand) method which is described in the same FAQ.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi,
thanks a lot for the clarification. Can you please share what is the typical timeline when the Madgraph team would be releasing the version 2.7.0 (in case of success).
Many thanks once again.

Best,

Hi,

Our first talk on this will be next week actually.
So I hope that we can release that fast. But since it starts to be holliday season
I guess between september and december.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for the information. I suppose decay things would also work.
