Can we have off shell particles in the final state?

Asked by Prudhvi Bhattiprolu

Dear Madgraph experts,

I want to generate p p > h z, (h > z z), which obviously doesn't work. So, to get this process to work, previously I was doing "generate p p > h > z z z", but this forces the higgs to be off-shell. Is there a way to require that the higgs be on-shell, and one of final state z's to be off-shell? Any help would be much appreciated!

Also, just to confirm, would some thing like "p p > h > z z z" always forces higgs to be off-shell?

Thanks

Cheers,
Prudhvi

Hi,

No all final state particules are forced to be onshell (they should be in assomptatic state for the S-matrix computation)

What i would suggest is to do
generate p p > z h , h > z e+ e-

The syntax does not force off-shell contribution, but since the higgs mass is smaller than twice the Z mass, it would automatically be the case.

Olivier
