Equivalent photon approximation

Asked by Ribella

Hi,

Do the equivalent photon approximation in Madgraph and calchep same?

These approaches were applied with reference to the article of budnev (1975) both CalcHEP and Madgrapgh.

Calchep has a pt cut for the photon, which is emitted from the proton. On the other hand, there is no pt cut for the photon in Madgrapgh.

The two programs can we compare these distributions in both Calchep and Madgrapgh.

Similarly, can we compare photons emitted from electron in both programs?

Hi,

I do not know.
I would suggest to look at this reference (or others):
https://arxiv.org/pdf/0908.2020.pdf
(and from reading that paper in diagonal this seems to be the case)

Cheers,

Olivier
