Higgs production crossection too high in NMSSM.

Asked by Gurunadha Reddy

Hi,

I've generated the process where SM higgs (h01) which is produced from pp collisions decays to two scalar particles (a01). These two scalar particles then decay to gluon and photon pairs respectively. The process in madgraph is generated by --

 generate p p > h01, (h01 > a01 a01, a01 > g g, a01 > a a)

This process has a Cross-section : 8.692e+22 +- 1.017e+20 pb. This crossection is very high. Also, the production crossection of higgs from pp is 6.324e+09 +- 5.487e+06 pb.
Why are the crossections extremely high?
Is my generation method correct?

Is your width set to the correct value?
If they are set too small this will enhance the cross-section by potentially huge factor.
Since the cross-section is proportional to 1/Gamma_h*1/Gamma_a01**2

Cheers,

Olivier
