ERROR: tau's daughter index is greater than the ParticleInputArray? size

Asked by celik

Hello Dear Experts,

After running Delphes on .hep.gz file to get root file, sometimes I am receiving "ERROR: tau's daughter index is greater than the ParticleInputArray? size" error. It does not happen all the time though. I asked in the delphes forum but no reply for 4 days. I am just wondering if the error might be relevant to MG or not.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Not sure how much I can help on this.
This error is certainly not raised by us and i have no idea what it means.
If you are able to find the one event in the lhe file that provides that error.
Then I can look if he is fine (or if you can not ping that particular event, you can send me the full lhe file and I will TRY to find if something is weird).

Now I would bet that I would not find anything weird (but I will check carefully) and in that case , this might either be a Pythia issue or a Delphes issue where I have no insight.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi,

I am not sure how I can find it as error message does not give me any clue about that particular event. I just run Delphes as "./DelphesSTDHEP cards/delphes_card_CMS.tcl output.root input.hep" and error pops up when the processes reaches to around 65%.

As the lhe file kinda huge, I am adding here the dropbox link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/56a3jk5v3ucmxju/events.lhe.gz?dl=0
In case you think it has nothing to do with the lhe file, please let me know so that I can write to pythia forum. It is weird that it does not happen alll the time although I use exactly the same runcard param card etc for each seperate event.

Thank you very much Olivier indeed!

Hi,

I have take a look (quite quick actually).
Since I do not find ANY tau in that file , the problem can not be in that file (or at least I do not see how it can be).
So the tau should be generated by Pythia and then I'm kind of useless.

Sorry,

Olivier
