Large uncertainties for the given run_card
I tried to generated process
p p > c c~, c > ve e+ s
for the following properties:
|eta_c|, |eta_c~|, |eta_e+| cover full pseudorapidity range (say 0 < |eta_X| < 9, where X means the particle),
|eta_{ve}| = (0.9,1.6),
no cuts on the pTs of the final state particles.
I have few questions regarding the results.
1) If I do not impose any cuts (False = cut_decays in run_card.dat), then I naively think that the resulting cross-section is calculated within the full pT, pseudorapidity, E... If this is true, then for the estimate of the MadGraph I expect something like
sigma_MadGraph = sigma_{pp > c c~}*BR(D > ve e+ X_s),
which is of order of 10^7 pb; for getting this estimate I used FONLL for getting sigma_{pp > c c~} and pdg for the inclusive BR for getting this result. But MadGraph gives a result 8.7 pb. Therefore I don't understand a reason for this.
2) I tried to impose explicit cuts defined above. Could you please check whether the run_card created correctly (please see it below)?
3) After imposing the cuts MadGraph displays the following info when calculating the cross-section:
"
INFO: End survey
refine 10000
Creating Jobs
INFO: Refine results to 10000
INFO: Generating 10000.0 unweigthed events.
INFO: Effective Luminosity 0.000464126021902 pb^-1
INFO: need to improve 1 channels
Current estimate of cross-section: 25855046.7626 +- 15903000.0
P1_gg_qq_q_lvlq
P1_qq_qq_q_lvlq
"
Does this output look normal? In particular, what does it mean that MadGraph need to improve 1 channels? Also, is the uncertainty being more than 50% expected, even at this intermediate state of the calculation?
4) If the run_card is correct, should I expect meaningful result (close to realistic) in the end? Or there is some reason that prevents MadGraph from giving meaningful result?
