Why not having a option of different beam types (i.e.2=photon from proton )in run_card.dat at NLO QCD ?

Asked by DavidHydroneWang

Dear Olivier,

I find I can only have one option ,1=proton,in the run_card.dat at NLO QCD . Why not having a option of different beam types (i.e.2=photon from proton )in run_card.dat at NLO QCD ?

I 'm looking forward to your reply

Thanks!

Hi,

For NLO in QCD this should not be a huge problem, while for NLO in EW this is quite problematic.
Even for NLO in QCD, this is actually not trivial since you need to modify the way the phase-space generator is working for those specific case ( and I'm already not convinced by the LO implementation of such beam-type)

So in short, this can be implemented in the future and the main reason why not is man power (and interest)

Cheers,

Olivier
