I generated e- a > z j j j j with MG5_aMC_v2_3_3, but it had no result after a very long time.

Asked by Di Zhang

Hi Olivier,

I generated e- a > z j j j j with MG5_aMC_v2_3_3. Howere, after almost 8 hours, it did not finish. I don't know why. And what can I do to solve the problem?

Hi,

Looks like this process does not have any diagram in the SM.
So I guess that you are using a BSM model. which has a few Feynman Diagram.
In that case, the issue should be that you miss some cut to make the amplitude finite.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thank you for your reply and I'm very sorry that I provided wrong information of the process. In fact

I generated events for e- a > z j j j j ve, z > l- l+with MG5_aMC_v2_3_3. Howere, after almost 8 hours, it did not finish.

I don't know why. And what can I do to shorten the time?

Cheers,
Di Zhang

Hi,

I'm really confused about what you did and did not.

So you claim that e- a > z j j j j, z > l- l+ is working (I guess you still forget a ve but that's ok)
so what is the difference with the one that does not work? (Just that you do not decay the Z?)

If that's the case, what is the center of mass energy that you are using? This should be the issue (i.e. that it is quite hard to have the Z onshell)

Cheers,

Olivier

I generated events for e- a > z j j j j ve, z > l- l+with MG5_aMC_v2_3_3. And the center of mass energy equals to 2 TeV, the type of beam1 is 0, the type of beam2 is 0. Howere, after almost 8 hours, it did not finish.

OK, I have two questions:

 1) what is the case which was working?
 2) What cut did you put on the jets?
 3) Did you have any cut on the lepton? (i.e. did you set cut_decays on T?)

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

I used the Standard Model.
And the center of mass energy equals to 2 TeV, the type of beam1 is 0, the type of beam2 is 0, nevents is 50000.
Then I had nothing changed in run_card.dat.

Di Zhang
