how to perform Charm decay in madgraph ?

Asked by zahra ghorbani moghaddam

Hi

I need to make some process out of charm decay via decay of D/D+-/D*/D_s..
I tried to define a multi particle like :

define pb = c c~ s s~ d d~

generate pb pb > W+ >n2 l+

I'm using the model with right handed neutrinos. I am not sure if I'm on the right track, and i'm wondering if I need to include mesons (D) as elementary particles in my model, then I would need to do for all D mesons.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Zahra

Hi,

I would indeed arguee that you have to include the mesons as elementary particle and then define the EFT operator which link the associate decay.

Cheers,

Olivier

Thank you so much Olivier for the prompt answer.
So, whatever meson that I need, I should introduce it as elementary particle in my model with EFT, am I right?

Another relevant question, Does Pythia8 would help generating mesons? if yes, how would i be able to use the output in Madgraph?

Thanks a lot

Zahra

That's what I think yes.

Really depends what you want to do here.
They do have a module for meson decay for sure, now if you want some BSM contribution to such decay.
I'm not sure how much they can help. But I have actually no idea.

No. (At least i do not see any case where it can be usefull to do so)

Cheers,

Olivier
