Shower, detector, analysis, reweight = not Avail

Asked by tom ingebretsen carlson

I'm new to Madgraph and trying to use the following versions:
MG5_aMc_v2_6_3_2, pythia8235, root-6.14.04, Delphes-3.4.1 and using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.

When i'm trying to launch my output file the following is shown.
Notice that they are "Not Avail", madspin is the only one that works.
1. Choose the shower/hadronization program shower = Not Avail.
2. Choose the detector simulation program detector = Not Avail.
3. Choose an analysis package (plot/convert) analysis = Not Avail.
4. Decay onshell particles madspin = OFF
5. Add weights to events for new hypp. reweight = Not Avail.

What should i do to make them Available? Could it be that my versions are not compatible?

Thank you very much!

In order to have external code available you need to link them with MG5aMC.
In most cases, it is enough to specify the path where you have install it in the file
We can also typically install everything for you locally via the command "install" from MG5aMC.

1) in order to have pythia8 working, you also need to install a linker program in top of the pythia8 code.
You can install it via the command: "install mg5amc_py8_interface"

2) In order to have detector simulation working, you need to have at least one parton-shower installed

3) For the analysis package, you need to install one (you have three choices: ExRootAnalysis, MadAnalysis4 and MadAnalysis5)
Here again the install command is the easiest way

4) For the reweighting package, you need to have numpy installed on your machine and lhapdf.

PS: Since one of our cluster is offline for the moment, the install command fails 50% of the time.
You can add the --source=ucl to any install command to avoid such problem

Thank you very much!

Would you mind giving an example of a parton-shower to install. I'm having trouble finding one.

Hi again

Now reweight is working, but the others aren't. We had a problem when installing linker program, 1). We get the following error message:

Once again thank you!

This is likely due to a problem with the hepforge server which is under construction work for the moment.
I do not think that this is on our side. (even if we also have issue with some of our server).

Can you help with this problem?
