Jet Matching

Asked by Sebastian Urrutia-Quiroga on 2018-08-10

Hi,
I apologize in advance because this a very naive question, but I would like to know how can implement jet matching in Madgraph. I've read some previous questions, but I'm not familiarized enough to get the right way to do it by my own.

Thank you so much,
Sebastian

We have a quite detailed information for MLM method with
https://cp3.irmp.ucl.ac.be/projects/madgraph/wiki/Matching
and
https://cp3.irmp.ucl.ac.be/projects/madgraph/wiki/IntroMatching

The Parton-shower side is described with PY6 which is outdated and not supported anymore.
But you can easily translate those information for Pythia8

I hope that this was your question. If not please be more specific.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hello again,
I'm sorry for bothering you again, but I followed the steps detailed in those references, but I got the following error:

INFO: Storing parton level results
INFO: End Parton
reweight -from_cards
decay_events -from_cards
INFO: Running Pythia8 [arXiv:1410.3012]
No user-defined value for Pythia8 parameter 'JetMatching:nJetMax'. Setting it automatically to 1.
Follow Pythia8 shower by running the following command (in a separate terminal):
    tail -f /home/surrutia/madgraph/Matching/Events/run_01/tag_1_pythia8.log
Command "generate_events run_01" interrupted with error:
InvalidCmd : Pythia8 shower interrupted with return code 139.
You can find more information in this log file:
        /home/surrutia/madgraph/Matching/Events/run_01/tag_1_pythia8.log

Could you address me to solve it?

Thank you in advance,
Sebastian

I guess that you should contact PY* author to learn what such error code mean.

Cheers,

Olivier
