More than 10k events at NLO

Asked by Arindam Das

Hi,

I was using the MadGraph@NLO version 2.6.3 in MacOSX HIGH Sierra. When I run 10k events, the simulation runs properly taking 10 min or so. When I go to 100k events the simulation takes infinite time. I check in other machine with Mac OSX Sierra that simulation of 100K tales about two hours or so. Could you please enlighten how to get the results for 100k events in a finite time from Mac OSX High Sierra. High Sierra uses Clang ++ (from apple) and gfortran-mp-6 (through macports ).

To simulate the 100k events I used the following prescription mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo/+bug/1730298
which is written below:

100000 = nevents ! Number of unweighted events requested
 -1.0 = req_acc ! Required accuracy (-1=auto determined from nevents)
25000 = nevt_job! Max number of events per job in event generation.

The above link says such a prescription is good for v2.6.0. So can't I use it for 2.6.3.2. I used this prescription for 2.6.3.2 in Sierra and it worked but not in High Sierra. However, in Sierra I have gfortran-4.8. Somehow High Sierra might not be compatible with gfortran-4.8.

could you please let me know what did I miss?

Many thanks for your reply and time.

Regards,
Arindam Das

Frankly speaking the delay happens in Pythia8 level after going through MadSpin.
