How to move a MadGraph installation

Asked by Beojan

I have a MadGraph installation with LHAPDF, Pythia, etc installed in it. I would like to copy this installation to share it with someone else, but the copy seems to point into my installation for various tools (LHAPDF at least). How can I copy / move a MadGraph installation?

Hi,

I have actually never done that.
The way I work is to have multiple installation of MG5aMC and having a global configuration file to indicate to all of them where i have installed lhapdf/ pythia8/...

With that setup you can technically move the MG5aMC directory and I do not expect any issue (but as i said I have never test this).

My suggestion is to move your directory and then edit the file
input/mg5_configuration.txt to put all the paths to their correct value.

Note that i do not know how pythia8 (and other similar package) handle their dependencies.
if any of them are using rpath then you would be force to recompile them.

Cheers,

Olivier
