pythia giving zero events

Hi,
I generate some events for my model with MadGraph v2.6.1. I turn Pythia8 on when it asks after launch. This generates .lhe and .hepmc files. The .lhe file seems fine, but the .hepmc file is empty. I installed pythia through "install pythia8" in the mg5_aMC command window. I think it's version 8.230. I am all very new to this, I hope you can help!

The log file of the Pythia8 run should be present along with the results in the Event directory.
Inspection of this log file will surely reveal why no events were generated, and you can refer to the Pythia8 manual to understand what can be done to fix this.
