Ther isn't .root or .lhco file in Events folder

Asked by leila

Hi Dear Experts,

Before when I was using MG2.3.2, I could get .lhco or .root files which were in Events folder and use it in MadAnalysis5 to interpret the results, but now I have installed MG2.5.5 and I don't have these files in my Events folder. I thaught maybe changing in the cards, I mean madanalysis5_hadron_card.dat solves my problem. I did install MadAnalysis5 --update --with_delphes which was written in that card but I get this:

MG5_aMC>install MadAnalysis5 --update --with_delphes
You are installing 'MadAnalysis5', please cite ref(s): arXiv:1206.1599.
Command "install MadAnalysis5 --update --with_delphes" interrupted with error:
OSError : [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/home/m/monojet/mg5aMC255/HEPTools/HEPToolsInstallers/installCMAKE.sh'
Please report this bug on https://bugs.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo
More information is found in 'MG5_debug'.
Please attach this file to your report.

In MG2.3.2 I could see MET,... Plots, but now I can,t get any plots!

would you please give me some advise.

Best Regards,

Leila

Hi,

We have indeed removed the automatic (partial) conversion of the Root file produced by Delphes to an lhco output.
But such root file still exists.

Also, you do not have to delphes installed inside MA5 to allow to have plots.

For the rest, I will let Valentin (and/or Benjamin) to comment.

Cheers,

Olivier

Apparently you don't have execution rights on the file:

/home/m/monojet/mg5aMC255/HEPTools/HEPToolsInstallers/installCMAKE.sh

So this issue is probably specific to the way you have setup your permissions in your file-system at this path.

Probably an issue specific to the access rights setup in the user's environment.

Hi dear Olivier& Valentin,

Thanks a lot for your replies. When I have a process like this in our own model:

p p > chi chi~ j /a h z w+ w- [QCD],

I have .root file, but for example when I have a process like this in SM model:

p p > t t~,

I don't have .root file!

While in both of them I don't have plots like MET,... which I could see them in MG2.3.2!

Best,

Leila

dear Leila,

What are the name of the root file that you observe in 2.3.2?
We do not generate any root file by default in ANY version of the code.
However in all version of the code, we allow to link our program to other program who create such type of output.
For root, the two example are EXROOTANALYSIS and Delphes at LO.
It is possible that you do not have such tools installed in 2.5.xx but well in your 2.3.2.

For fixed order NLO, it is also possible to create root plot on the flight. (so this might apply to your first syntax)

Cheers,

Olivier

PS: Note that ExRootAnalysis is not run automatically anymore when installed (like in 2.3.2) but that you have to request it when running (you have to set the analysis parameter to ExRootAnalysis
