Cluster running fails with error "OSError : [Fail 5 times]"

Asked by Otman

Dear experts,

I'm trying to generate the process z -> aaa on the cluster using MG5_aMC_2_5_3 but I get the following error:

Command "generate_events run_01" interrupted with error:
OSError : [Fail 5 times]
[Errno 2] No such file or directory

The debug log file is attached [1]. Can anyone tell me what I need to do ?

Thanks a lot.

Otman

Dear Otman,
can you please cross-check the cluster settings?
i see in your options:
cluster_type : condor
cluster_queue : madgraph (user set)

also, can you try to run the code locally (with the option -m when you do launch/generate_events) to see if,in that case, everything goes smooth?

Let me know.
cheers,

Marco

Ciao Marco,

thanks a lot for the feedback. Yes, those two parameters are the ones I used. I don't really know which ones I should be using exactly. I would like my jobs to be running on the madgraph cluster, i.e. as if I were submitting my banner on the online madgraph page. As to running locally, I'm afraid I cannot do that. The jobs take all my cpus and take eons. I'm forced to stopping them. Hence the reason why I wanna run on the cluster.

Thanks

Otman

Hi Otman,
if you are using the louvain MG cluster, then you have to set
cluster_type= 'slurm'
and leave
cluster_queue = None
as recently the job-monitoring system has migrated from condor to slurm.
Note also that I will be offline for ~10 days from tomorrow.

Cheers,

Marco

Ciao Marco,

I tested what you said and it seems to work better, in a sense. But now, I get this error [1]:

Thanks a lot for the help.

Otman

Hi,

In order to run on our server, you have to use the web interface (which all the limitation of that interface).
They are noway to use our server from the tarball.
You can use your own server if your university provides you one.
In that case, you first have to ask your IT guy which type of job scheduller are installed and then test if the default handling of
madgraph for that job scheduller is working for your cluster or not.
If not, then you have to edit it to match the requirement of your local cluster.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

thanks very much for the prompt answer. That clarifies a lot. My next question would be then:

Is this model included in the list of models that are available from the web interface ?

Thanks

Otman
