Dynamical renomalization scale with FxFx merging

Asked by Alena Loesle

Dear experts,

I would like to use a dynamical renomalization scale when generating H+2jets with FxFx merging.
For this, I added a user-defined scale choice in setscales.f and set
dynamical_scale_choice=0
in run_card.dat.
However, when I run the generation I get:

For consistency in the FxFx merging, dynamical_scale_choice has been set to -1 (default)

So I guess my scale settings are just ignored. Is it possible to use a dynamical renomalization scale with FxFx merging? If yes, what am I missing?

Thanks for your help,

Alena

Dear Alena,

There is an interplay between the scales and the Sudakov logarithms that are needed in FxFx. This is similar to what is used in Minlo, and you can find a paper (section 4) here explaining the correlation, arXiv:1206.3572 [hep-ph].

Hence, changing the functional form of the scales is not possible.

Best,
Rikkert
