different decay modes for top pair in MadSpin

Asked by mazuza

Hello,

First, my question was answered here, however its a bit old, I would like to make sure that its still not possible?
https://answers.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo/+question/237087

I would like to have pp > t t~ a, where tt~ pair decays only leptonically or semi-leptonically so what I need is a sample containing the following decay modes:
t > w b, w > l vl, t~ > w b, w > l vl
or t > w b, w > q q' , t~ w b , w > l vl
or t > w b > w > l vl , t~ > w b, w > q q'

Is it possible, and how if so?

It looks like I can only specify one decay mode in MadSpin, e.g:
decay t > w+ b, w+ > l+ vl
decay t~ > w- b~, w- > l- vl~

Thanks,
Mazuza

hi,

You can actually define multiple decay by having multiple line for the decay t
for example
decay t > w+ b, w+ > l+ vl
decay t > w+ b, w+ > j j

Now if you do this for both t and t~, this will also produce the fully hadronic decay so that one requires a bit of handling outside of our code.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for the reply! If I understood correctly I can't produce only dilepton and semilepton ttbar, a so called non all hadronic, using MadSpin.
There is no way to tell MadSpin if one w decays leptonically then other should decay hadronically and vice versa ..or both leptonically at the same time!

Mazuza
