events without plots

Asked by Arindam Das

Hi Madgraph Exparts,

Is it possible to get event records (.lhe/ .lhco) without the plots (ps files of the Histograms for the kinematic variables in the HTML folder) created by MadGraph ?

Thanks you very much for a time.

Hi,

If you do not install MadAnalysis, then you will not have the plot.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Oliver,

Many thanks for the quick reply.
It means, with MadAnalysis I will
always have plots and there is NO
way to stop it.
The only option is to stop MadAnalysis.

Just is case, is it possible to know the cross section without generating the events?
Or generating events are compulsory. I was asking, because if I need to check some
cross sections very quickly but not the events then what should I do through the MadGraph ?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Regards,
Arindam

Hi,

If you use a recent version of MG5_aMC, then it is possible (and this is very clear how to)

Generation of events is deeply connected to the evaluation of the cross-section.
Now if a 10% accurate cross-section is enough, then you can just ask for 1 event in the run_card.

Otherwise, the only step that you can bypass is the unweighting/collection of the events.
For this, you are force to use the advance user mode which has a lot of side effect.

for that mode you can do
./bin/madevent
survey
refine 0.01
refine 0.01

In order to have a 1% accurate cross-section. Note that this mode which target the cross-section is not very optimal
and quite often fails to deliver the 1% cross-section requested. So you have to manually check it.
Note that you might not have access to the print_results command in that mode as well.

Cheers,

Olivier
