Higgs decay to muons

Asked by Valerio

Dear Madgraph experts,

sorry to bother you but I was trying to generate the H > mu- mu+ but I had trouble.
I'm just trying with
generate p p > j j h , h > mu- mu+

and I see
"
Command "generate p p > j j h , h > mu- mu+" interrupted with error:
NoDiagramException : No amplitudes generated from process Process: h > mu- mu+ WEIGHTED=2. Please enter a valid process
"
while I do not any problem in doing h>ta- ta+.
Do you have any idea? (May be there is something silly that I'm missing)

Thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers,

Valerio

Hi Valerio,
I think this problem is coming as there is no hmu-mu+ coupling available as they have taken the mass of muon is zero. Also, you can see the same problem persists with h > e- e+. If you start with a hmu-mu+ coupling in your model file, then I think this problem will not be there.

Olivier may provide more info. about this.

Shiba

Hi Shiba,

thanks a lot for the information. Do you know if there is a model that allow me to create ggf Higgs to di muon (o di electron events?) and where I can find it?
I saw from another question (solved) that there is a model

 heft1484-full

that can solve my question.
Do you know if I can find it around?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,

Valerio

Hi,

I have send you the heft model with muon masses by email.

Cheers,

Hi Olivier,

thanks a lot! I run with the model you sent me and everything went well.
Just one question about the cross section:
I was expecting something between 9-10 fb for g g > h, h > mu+ mu-

(ggf*BR_muons = 43.62 pb * 2.16 E-4 = 9.42 fb)

while I obtain (when running your model) 2.85 fb.
Should I modify something in the model?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Cheers,

Valerio

Hi,

The cross-section is LO, is your expectation N^3LO or LO?

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

the values I had are not LO (I think NNLO) but I was not expecting a so large difference.
Btw thanks a lot for the support (it could be that the difference is just the LO Vs NNLO).

Cheers,

Valerio

Thanks Olivier Mattelaer, that solved my question.
