low energy e nu -> e nu scattering through W or Z

Asked by mgytakahas

Dear expert,

I would like to study the basic kinematic distributions of e-nu scattering (especially the energy of the out-going electron and its anglular distribution) with various center of mass energy.

In order to do this, I did

MG5_aMC>generate e- vl~ > e- vl~
MG5_aMC>output madevent
MG5_aMC>lauch

where I specified the beam1 and beam2 energy to be 1 GeV for both. You can see my settings below,

Then I got zero-cross-section error. If I change the beam energy to be 500 GeV, it works.
I know that the cross-section is pretty small if the beam energy is small (something like 10^-48 x center-of-mass-energy^2 m2), However, is there any way to calculate this with very low energy regime ?

Thanks a lot for your help

Dear user,

You should remove the cuts on the leptons: you require the leptons to have at least 10 GeV of transverse momenta as well as a rapidity lower than 2.5.

Best regards,
Rikkert
