Change of renormalization/factorization scale

Asked by Tim Wolf

Dear MG5_aMC@NLO experts,
I am currently trying to change the renormalization and factorization scale of the process I want to compute.
I know that the right place should be setscales.f (according to http://arxiv.org/pdf/1405.0301v2.pdf). Further the parameters
muR_over_ref
muF1_over_ref
muF2_over_ref
are apparently important.
The process under consideration is ttbb. I want to implement:
muR = Product of transverse energies
muF= 1/2 * ( Et(top)+Et(anti-top) )
muQ= muF
Thank you for your help in advance!
Cheers,
Tim

Dear Tim,

Sorry, but what is exactly your question?

best,

Dear Rikkert,
thank you for your quick response. - It is not clear to me how to implement the scales mentioned above in the setscales.f file. If you could give a comment on that or point me to examples of non-standard renormalization/factorization choices (which involve manipulations in setscales.f) that would help me a lot.
Cheers,
Tim

Dear Tim,

Did you check the setscales.f file? There are already a couple of examples on non-default scales. The place to put them are the functions:

function muR_ref_dynamic(pp)
function muF_ref_dynamic(pp)
function QES_ref_dynamic(pp)

as is written at the beginning of the setscales.f file.

Best,
Rikkert
